REMYETIENNELEBEAU
Name: Remy Etienne LeBeau
Nickname(s): Remy, Le Diable Blanc, Cajun, Swamp Rat (He only lets Rogue call him that), Swamp Boy (Again, only Rogue can call him that) [codename: Gambit]
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Birthday: May 4th
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Job: Thief, Card Shark, Adventurer
Powers: Molecular Acceleration: Gambit has the ability to use energy that is in a specific object and charge it. With this he is able to create small bombs. This is only activated when he lets go of the object that he is charging though. Gambit is able to charge inanimate objects of basically any size, but the bigger the object the longer it takes for him to charge it. For this reason he generally uses metal spikes or most commonly playing cards.
If his powers ever reached their full potential, Gambit would be able to charge any matter, organic and inorganic just by looking at it. If they got out of control at it's potential, Remy could effectively pull a New Sun and not only burn the world but himself.
He has shown empathic abilities and an ability to use his energy to see into the future, but it seems as though he needs more training for them to really be of any use to him.
Due to his unusual eyes, Remy has the night vision of a cat, enabling him to see almost as well in the dark as he does in the light.
Extra Energy Related Powers: Due to the kinetic energy that is always racing through Gambit’s body it gives him enhanced agility and dexterity. This makes him a more dangerous threat to his opponents because it gives him an extra advantage to his already excellent fighting skills.
Another thing that the extra kinetic energy that runs through his body grants him is what is called “static interference” which keeps him undetected from telepaths and keeps telepaths from out of his head (even the strongest of telepaths). This power also makes him invulnerable to powers that are touch based, i.e. Rogue… She might be able to knock him out cold for a day or two if she really tries but she can't kill him or send him into a prolonged coma.
His “hypnotic charm”. This allows him to unknowingly manipulate the energy in another person’s brain, which could make them agree to things he says. Even though Gambit is already a charming man and is good at convincing others to do things he wants them to do, his hypnotic charm aids him in this even more. The only disadvantage of this though is that people with stronger minds are immune to this.
After surgery performed by Mister Sinister, Gambit's powers were restored to their natural potential. He was able to use his power simply by looking at an object that he wished to charge, including living tissue. Gambit could also manipulate the potency of the energy release and could even exercise a measure of control over time. Following his climactic battle with the New Sun, Gambit lost this enhanced level of power.
Gambit's ability to tap energy also grants him superhuman agility and dexterity, as well as creating a static interference that shields his mind from detection and intrusion by even the most powerful telepaths.
Of course Gambit is fluent in English, but he is also fluent in French as well. Gambit is a great marksman often using this ability to aid him in using his powers. His marksmanship comes in handy when he uses his power to charge objects because it allows him to hit his target a majority of the time.
Gambit’s best ability is his amazing fighting skills. He is skilled in many different forms of martial arts as well as street fighting. He is also extremely aerobic and he uses all of these things to create a unique fighting style that is not common among other people. This gives him an upper hand in fighting people as well.
A few miscellaneous abilities is that he is also able to pilot a jet even though it is something that he has not done often. He is known to be a pretty decent cook. He is primarily good at cooking his Cajun cuisine. He is also an extremely talented pick-pocket, something that he picked up as a boy when he was fending for himself.

Personality: Remy is an extremely charismatic person. People generally gravitate to him. He also has a personality that causes people tp have strong feelings about him (both positive and negative). He has been known to jokes around and party like it's 1999, but knows when to be serious. He makes friends easily, but the same goes for enemies.
Despite the fact that he is capable of following orders and listening to those in a position of authority, he at the same time follows his gut. If he feels that something isn’t right, he will not hesitate at all in saying so. If necessary he will go against orders to do what he thinks is best for him. He is more than willing to deal with the consequences of his actions, but has no regrets at the end of the day. Deep down, despite his past of thievery, lying and cheating, Remy's a good guy. He has a conscience. Still, if the situation calls for it, he will stop at nothing, though he tends to shy away from killing.
Though he's not necessarily selfish he definitely believes in self-preservation. He does care about the well-being of others, but he does do what he can to make sure that he is safe as well. He has gotten a bad rap in many different ways as being very cocky and even arrogant, but in reality that is not the case. He is confident, but he wouldn't be considered extremely cocky, though there are times when he gives off those vibes to those around him.
Hot-tempered is another thing that could describe him. He can quickly get angry. This often leads to confrontations with others, and has even lead to fist fights. While he is very charismatic, he is also very secretive. He has a very “questionable” past. It is one that even he is ashamed of and doesn’t want anyone to know about because he knows that the things that he has done could cause people to view him differently and judge him harshly.

History: Abandoned at birth due to his burning red eyes, the child who would one day become Remy LeBeau was kidnapped from his hospital ward by members of the New Orleans Thieves' Guild who referred to the child as "le diable blanc" - the white devil. They believed he was the child that had been prophesied to unite the warring Guilds. Soon after, Remy was placed in the care of a gang of street thieves who raised the child and taught him the ways of thievery.
Later, when he was around ten years old, Remy attempted to pick the pocket of Jean-Luc LeBeau, then-patriarch of the Thieves’ Guild. Jean-Luc took the boy in off the streets and adopted him into his own family. As part of a peace pact between the Thieves’ Guild and their rivals, the Assassin’s Guild, a marriage was arranged between Remy and Bella Donna Boudreaux, the granddaughter of the head of the Assassin's Guild.
However, Bella Donna's brother Julien objected to the marriage and challenged Gambit to a duel. Remy killed Julien in self-defense, but was excommunicated and banished from New Orleans in an attempt to maintain the nonaggression pact between the two guilds.
Remy wandered the world as he plied his skills as a master thief, aided by his mutant power to charge objects with explosive energy. He employed playing cards he charged with kinetic energy as his trademark weapon. At one point Remy had approached the master geneticist Mr. Sinister for help in controlling his powers.
Sinister removed some of Remy's brain tissue to reduce his power levels, thus affording him a greater degree of control. As a result, Remy was now in the geneticist's debt, and Sinister subsequently charged the thief with assembling the team of assassins called the Marauders. Remy did not realize that Sinister would employ the Marauders to massacre the underground mutant community known as the Morlocks.
Seeing the horrific results of his actions, Remy attempted to stop the massacre but was almost killed by the Marauder named Sabretooth. However, he did manage to save one young Morlock girl who would one day grow up to become the X-Man named Marrow.
Some time later, a mutant named Wolverine came up to Remy, asking for some help to find an island where mutant genetics were tested. While Remy had been traveling around, he was taken there by Stryker and was the only mutant to escape the island. At first he refused, but eventually took the mutant there to help the rest of the mutant children and adults alike to get away. Near the end of the escape, Gambit offered to take Wolverine back with the rickety plane, but the man seemed confused and directly rejected the offer. Once again Gambit was on his own.
Eventually, Remy encountered Storm, a member of the outlaw team of mutant adventurers known as the X-Men. Storm had been transformed into an amnesiac child who had turned to theft as a means to survive. Remy helped her escape her enemy, the malevolent psionic entity known as the Shadow King, and they became partners for a brief time.
Starving to death, Remy made his way back, where he came upon the psionic essence of a dead mutant named Mary Purcell. The wraith-like Mary bonded with him, allowing him to survive until he reached the Savage Land, a hidden jungle nestled in the icy wasteland. There, Remy struck a deal with the enigmatic being known as the New Sun. In exchange for passage back to America, Remy agreed to run errands for the New Sun.
Remy returned home and encountered the X-Men again when he attempted to steal the fabled Crimson Gem of Cyttorak for his new employer. However, Mary began to threaten Remy and his friends if he didn't agree to stay with her forever. When the X-Men finally found out about Mary, the wraith fled with Remy to her old hometown, where she tried to force him to merge with her and become a new type of hybrid lifeform. Rogue charged in with a containment unit, which ultimately dispersed Mary.
During a trip back in time, Remy's powers were restored to their maximum potential by Sinister and he was able to utilize them to return to the present. Soon after his return, Remy served for a time as patriarch of the Thieves' Guild in his father's stead. Remy was also responsible for the unification of the Thieves' and Assassins' Guilds into the Unified Guild, of which he also served briefly as patriarch.
Role Play Sample: "Damn, there goes my entertainment." He smiled, he couldn't imagine things going any better in his life. He had a fit of the giggles when she continued on about the baking. She did have a point about it all. He would never think about kitchens and baking the same way again. "Not cake-like enough. Perhaps muffins would work better." He wasn't sure if he'd actually eaten a muffin before.
He was used to eating far different food than that. When she kissed him, he ran his hand through her hair. She always made him feel like he could fly. He was so in love with her he didn't know what to do with himself. He doubted he could spend much time apart from her again. When she backed away from him, he felt in his pocket for the box he had in there. He'd just gotten it back from the jeweler that morning. He had originally intended to put it away for a later time, but something in him wouldn't let him wait.
He smiled as she spoke again. It always seemed as though they were on the same wavelength. Sometimes it was hard to believe they were separate people. It was like she was a figment of his imagination. He was glad that wasn't the case or he would look incredibly stupid in a few moments. "I feel the exact same way. Before I met you, I didn't know these feelings were possible."
He took a deep breath, trying to summon up the courage to go through with it. He didn't know what he would do if she turned him down. Still terrified, he got down on one knee and took out the box. "I can't imagine living without you. You're everything I could have ever hoped for and more. Will you marry me?" He opened the box in his hand. It contained a ring that meant quite a lot to him. It had been his mother's and he couldn't imagine anyone else ever wearing it until now. He braced himself for the possible rejection.
"Intriguing offer..." He was partially teasing. In all fairness, he wouldn't mind it, but that wasn't the sole reason he was here. "We'll have to try them sometime." He really wasn't the slightest bit interested in muffins. If she wanted to make them though, he would go along with it. After all, if baking turned into this, he'd spend quite a bit of time in the kitchen.
When she grinned at him, he felt happier and at the same time, more nervous than he ever had in his life. There was something odd about how well they meshed together, but who was he to question it. Everything seemed so perfect. Whatever made it perfect had to do with her. Before he'd ever met her, he was mostly a loner. Now, he couldn't imagine living his life alone. Whatever she had done to his life had been magical and he didn't want anything to ever come between that. He needed to get his priorities in order before he threw his chance away.
He was terribly afraid of her rejecting him when he'd asked her to marry him. It was stupid and impulsive, but it just felt right. Sometimes he just didn't think things through. He would just have to trust that he'd made the right choice and hope everything would straighten out. He watched her reaction and he winced slightly when he saw her eyes widen. He didn't know how she would answer but the first thing that came to mind was no. He looked up at her when he didn't hear an answer and the look on his face was questioning, nearly pleading.
He wasn't going to beg. When he saw her nod, he felt a rush. It was like Christmas all over again. When he heard her whispered answer and followed it up by kissing him, he grabbed her tightly. The passion in the kiss was almost nuclear. He almost didn't believe this was happening. Crazy people did this sort of thing. He might as well book himself a straight-jacket and a room at St. Mungo's because as he felt her in his arms, he knew this was real.
This was his life now. He would have no choice but to ensure that everything stayed the way it was then, no matter what that meant. When she pulled back and looked at the ring, he smiled. "I can't imagine it suiting anyone but you." He picked up her hand and removed the other from her waist. With his now free hand, he took the ring out of the box and slid it onto her finger. "If it doesn't fit right, we can have it resized."
Theodore's father would be turning in his grave if he knew what his son had been getting up to. If he had been following his family's traditions, he would have checked her bloodline and spoken with her family long before asking her out.
Theodore never cared much for expectations people had of him. Work and his love life were the only ones that mattered in his mind. His father was long dead so Theodore pushed any fleeting thought of him out of his mind. Sure he'd been rash and impulsive, everyone who was in love felt like that and did crazy things. Certainly, most didn't propose marriage on the second date. Still, his heart felt like it would explode right before she told him yes.
He wondered when he was going to wake up from this. Things like this didn't really happen, though in this case, they did. He smiled at her, still in a state of shock that she was his now, unofficially of course.
He grinned at her when she said it fit her pretty well. He was glad he kept that ring. It wouldn't have belonged on anyone else. Had she been anyone but herself, he would have waited much longer and bought a ring for them. He ran the words she said over in his mind. It was like a part of her. He hoped that she wasn't just being polite, but he didn't think she would lie to him.
He hadn't expected her to kiss him out of the blue like that. He kissed her back with all the passion in his being. He got up off the ground, trying hard not to break the kiss. He hadn't given much thought about when and where they would be married. He'd acted so quickly that there was no time to plan. As far as him wanting a family, that would require some thought. He was never completely sold on the idea of having children of his own.
For one thing he was afraid of turning into his father and for another he thought people often used their children as vanity symbols. He was as vain as he could be, but he didn't want to push that onto a child. He wasn't completely opposed to the idea either, which is why he would need to think. When she ran her fingers through his hair, he pulled her tightly to him. He adored her completely and knew his life would be empty without her.
